Hi, I’m Tom Dennehy—owner of Dennehy Construction.
Growing up in Christchurch, I was that kid who was always on the tools. My dad was a builder, and some of my best memories are of weekends spent helping him with home renos or knocking together skate ramps in the backyard. That hands-on experience sparked a passion for construction that’s stuck with me ever since.
I kicked off my apprenticeship in Christchurch, soon after, heading to Wellington. There I gained some solid commercial experience on busy central city sites, such as Wellington Hospital and the BNZ Centre, before heading back home following the 2011 Earthquakes, to Christchurch, to take part in rebuilding the homes of our fellow Cantabrians.
In 2020, I took the leap and started Dennehy Construction. I wanted to build more than just houses—I wanted to build trust, quality, and lasting relationships. That’s why I keep communication front and centre, with weekly check-ins and a commitment to being upfront and available throughout the whole process.
To me, building isn’t just about timber and nails—it’s about people. I’ve worked hard to create a team culture where integrity, craftsmanship, and clear communication are the norm. It’s something our clients notice, and it’s why many of them come back to work with us again.
You’ll often find me mountain biking in the Port Hills with my kids, swinging a golf club, or soaking up the outdoors. These places remind me why I do what I do: to help families create spaces where their own stories can unfold.
If you’re planning a build in Christchurch and want a team that genuinely cares about the outcome, I’d love to chat. Let’s bring your vision to life—together.
